Confiscated Rasta Hat!!!

I've been crocheting for a number of years from my imagination and can't wait to upload a photo of a hat I've been working on. Unfortunately (and fortunately I suppose) my Fashion Survey teacher kept my crocheted White Rasta Hat that I submitted in conjunction with my Inspiration Project last week. She explained that I had gotten a 97% on my project and left it in her office to show other students in the future. I was flattered and responded with a smile and a "great" but in my head all I could think about were ways to break into her office so I could finish the darn thing!!

XD Anyone have a spare set of lock picks I could borrow? I'll deny I ever knew you if I get caught. ;p

Taking influences from Kara Walker's minimalism style, I designed a line of hats that reflected my love for complex patterns and simple color schemes (while ignoring Kara's grotesque subject matter). :p Don't get me wrong. She's made great progress in helping to abolish racism. I just choose to oppose stupidity using a less visually intrusive method. Subtly is hard to overlook.

Subtle definition: Characterized by skill or ingenuity; clever.

In short, I'd rather befriend people and show them through my actions that their preconceived notions of foreign races or colors are frivolous.

Frivolous definition: a)of little weight or importance b) having no sound basis (as in fact or law)

Maybe for some, loud crude images do the job, but for me it was Kara's choice to use subtle silhouettes and monotone color schemes that really attracted me to her work. Thus, a white hat is born (or it would be if Greensley ever gives it back! lol).

On the positive side, I received an A on the project due to my designs. The negative is that I don’t have a project to work on for the next few weeks! Lol Rasta Hat, you will be sorely missed….

How often are we really communicating instead of just talking?
Say something from the heart, and you've done well
Do something from the heart, and you're really speaking
